Last week we had all five grandgirlies over for a SLEEPOVER! As you know - sleepovers usually have nothing to do with sleeping!!! We took all the girls in the back of Pappy's truck (please don't call the police on us - it is just about 300 yards!!) to our neighborhood park. We roasted hotdogs and ate cheetos and went on a little adventure hike! Then as it was turning dark - we roasted marshmellows and made s'mores! YUM! Then we headed back to Mammy and Pappy's to make Thanksgiving Turkey Cookies! We all watched the newest Tinkerbell movie and of course played "dress-up" for a very long time! The girls were all supposed to be sleeping upstairs in the game room - except Campbell who slept in her Pack-n-Play . But within about 10 minutes of "lights-out" they all came downstairs dragging their sleeping bags behind them saying, "We're scared! Can we sleep in your room???!! Maggie said forget the floor - I'm sleeping between Mammy and Pappy. Carson, Chloe and Lily slept in their sleeping bags all encircling our bed! We LOVED every minute of it! Here's a few pics from our fun night together!

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for! God took somebody that didn't have much going for her and turned her life into a life worth living! ....
"to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 61:3

I'm so thankful that God chose me to have the love of this man.....

And God gave us this HUGE blessing .....

And this blessing makes my heart very, very happy!

And what would life be like without this blessing???!!!

And there is so very much more .... my salvation, health, church, country, friends, jobs... and the list goes on and on and on!

Yep, I'm very blessed. And I'm very very Thankful!

Take a few minutes and thank God for all your blessings!!

Happy 6th Birthday Carson Beth!

Someone is turning 6 years old today!!

6 years ago today our first (of 5) granddaughter was born! Carson was a beautiful sweet thing when she was born and is STILL just as beautiful and sweet! Carson is the oldest of 3 little girls and has always been another "mama" to her sisters! It is very obvious that she is the oldest because of her love and care she is always showing her sisters. Carson loves to play tennis and is very good at it!! She also loves ballets and has been giving us impromptu "performances" for quite a few years! Carson started kindergarten in the fall and loves it! She is a very good student and loves school work (wonder how long this will last!! ha!) We can't wait to see what God has in store for Carson when she gets older! We have no doubt it will be something very special - because her love for God is already something very special!

We love you Carson Beth!! Happy 6th Birthday!!

Huntereeno 2009

All the boys in my son-in-law's small group love to make fun of the girls and their monthly Pikeeno Game Night. Several years ago these same guys started taking a weekend during November and decided to call it Huntereeno For Men! Of course, the guys have to keep the kiddos by themselves when the girls are gone and the girls have to keep the kids by themselves when the guys are gone. And they all whine about how much time they each take for their fun!

My sweet husband got invited to be the cook several years ago when this event first started. And HE LOVES IT!! He looks forward to it each year and tries to come up with some really unique recipes - just for these guys!!! And I think the guys love it too!!! Here's a little peek into a "Huntereeno Weekend!"

This was just a "midnight snack" for the guys the 1st night! He calls these "Armadillo Hors D'oeuvres " . Yum!

Traditional Chili with cheese and Mexican Cornbread

Chili Time!

There were actually 2 breakfasts everyday! One was at 4:30am and the 2nd was around 10am! Here is the "early-bird" breakfast of cinnamon rolls!

Chowin' Down!

What I think is so funny is all the modern day technology that accompanies these boys on their rustic hunting trip!!!

What's also funny is the cute little Bed & Breakfast-type cottage that these He-Men stay in! Thanks to Mr. Smokey and Mrs. Connie for providing such a "fru-fru" place to stay so these guys can stay in-touch with their feminine side!! They are all chillaxin' cause they get up so early and are full of good food!!

Have you ever noticed that guys will sleep anywhere! Especially while hunting! Yes, that's a body on the couch and another is in the big chair/ottoman!!

And I mean anywhere!!

Now these boys take their huntin' very seriously!! They purchase lots of paraphernalia to help them have a successful hunt!!

Some even look like they are paratroopers!

See this fancy all-terrain vehicle.....I couldn't believe it when my husband told me what these things cost!!!!

And then they're off! Off to find supper!! ha!

And the funniest thing was this! The guy on the right is Billy. Billy says he has never gone hunting! This was his first Huntereeno! And Grady - on the left - well he's an experienced hunter. So being the nice guy that Grady is (and he really is!!!) , he took Billy out to show him how the real men kill their supper! So the ONLY successful shot on this entire weekend goes to Billy, the hunting newbie! And it was this very scary looking big ole' boar! Yuck!

But all the men gather around, puffing out their chests, and beating each other on the back with congratulations to the successful hunter!

And then they all ooh and ahh as they "dress" the big nasty boar! And I don't mean in clothes!! ha!

And Mr. Smokey just sits and laughs at these young bucks (not real bucks - they couldn't find any of those!!)

And here we have the proud hunters from
Huntereeno 2009!!

Men are just little boys in big boys clothes!!! And I love that they are!

Here Comes The Bride!!!

I love weddings! I love everything about weddings! Maybe it's because I'm a romantic at heart. Maybe it's because I'm a girly-girl. Maybe it's because everyone is always happy at weddings. I just love weddings. The bride is happy because she looks beautiful and loves being the center of attention and a real princess for one day! The parents are always happy because it's finally over. The guests are happy because they are getting a free meal. The little kids are happy because they can run around and not get into trouble! The groom is happy because he's excited about.....well, you know!! I love weddings. We have even seriously considered building a wedding facility with a chapel, reception hall, outdoor gazebo, twinkle lights, the whole works. It would be a place where dreams come true!! You know - one of those places where everyone lives "happily ever after"!! Since all my children are now married I have to settle for just helping out my friends with their children's weddings. Here are some of my favorite weddings. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of all my favorite weddings but then it would take you hours to read this post!

Of course my favorite wedding was my wedding! This was 37+ yrs ago when weddings were not near as fancy as they are today. You know - the simple cake and punch wedding!! And my sweet Mamaw Flossie made my dress!

Dustin and Kelly were the first of our kids to get married! They got married on New Year's Eve which made it fun! Had fireworks and everything! Kelly was a beautiful bride!

They got married at beautiful place called The House Estate. It was still decorated for Christmas and it was stunning! Just like the bride and groom!

This was a "Barbie and Ken" wedding for sure!

Our next wedding was Conn and Ashley's. Ashley wanted a "Father of the Bride" wedding and that's what she got! She wanted a Princess wedding dress and that's what she got! She wanted a gazebo outdoor wedding and that's what she got! She wanted 1000's of twinkle lights and that's what she got!

Ashley and Conn also got this awesome "customized" dance floor! A gift from a dear artist friend of mine!

Her daddy built a gazebo just for her wedding!

And her Daddy was so sad when it came time to "give her away"!

And then it was Brandon and Sharla's turn. Yep, we had 3 weddings in 2 1/2 yrs.

Sharla's dad built this gorgeous backdrop for their wedding! It was amazing! And it was framed with hydrangeas!!

Sharla and Brandon amidst a sparkling heart!

Sharla was a beautiful bride!

This summer, our niece Deana, got married to Paul! We had the privilege of taking her bridal portraits!

Deana was a stunning bride!!

Deana and Paul are a cute couple!!

And her flower girl was a cutie too!

And then just a few months later - Deana's brother got married to this beautiful bride, Jessica! We also were so honored to take Jessica's bridal portraits too! Shouldn't this bride be in a Bride's Magazine!

Jess made photography very easy!

Jess and Brett got married on October 31, 2009!! How appropriate were pumpkins in her portraits!!

Jess and Brett had a really sweet wedding and reception at Ella's Garden in Tomball. Very pretty wedding!

While going through my pictures I found a few more beautiful brides from year's past. This is Joy and Greg Ryan. Aren't they the sweetest couple!!! Joy will be having Baby #3 next week!! A lot can happen in 5 years!!

And I found this picture of Ashley and some high school girlfriends. Her friend Misty had a beautiful outdoor wedding in July 2004 - just a few days before Lily was born!!

Robin and I were so blessed to go to Italy for our 35th wedding anniversary. While we were touring the Colosseum in Rome we looked down and saw this beautiful bride being photographed in a garden by the Arch of Constantine. Isn't her wedding dress just exquisite!! She was very far away from us but Robin was able to get this picture with a great zoom lens!

**Update**

I'm adding a few more pics to my "wedding" post!

This is our sweet niece Markell and her husband Stephen. They got married July 2005! Do you know that neither of them ever dated anyone but each other!!

This is Tim and Britny's wedding! Tim is the son of my dearest friend, Kathy! Kathy makes wedding, birthday and just about any kind of cake you could ever want! Not just cakes but UNBELIEVABLE artistry cakes!

All my little grandgirls loved dancing with the Bride Britny! She was so sweet to love on all those little girls! She was a true "princess" to each and everyone of them! Britny was a beautiful bride!!

And these 3 little precious things were the flower girls and ringbearer for Steve and Becca Crosby!! The girls are Stacey and Bethany (Cubley) and my oldest son, Brandon!! This was taken around 1980!!! Crazy thing - they are all grown now (in their 30's!!) with kids of their own!! (Bethany may kill me for posting this picture with that expression on her face!! ha!) I just love the way they are holding hands!!! They have been best buds for their entire lives!

I wish I had pictures of all the beautiful brides I have ever seen! There is no such thing as an ugly bride! I love weddings!!
